Benefits of Physiotherapy for Pets Just like in humans, physiotherapy in animals offers numerous benefits. It can significantly accelerate recovery from surgical procedures, injuries, sports-related trauma, and age-related disorders. At our physiotherapy department, we assist patients suffering from conditions involving the spinal cord and vertebral column, as well as arthritis, muscular, skeletal, tendinous, and ligamentous issues, helping them return to normal function and reduce pain more quickly. In many cases, even if your pet is experiencing pain, they may hide or suppress it, particularly when dealing with chronic conditions. Our trained veterinary physiotherapists are skilled at identifying hidden pain and will work with you to manage and relieve it effectively. You should consider the possibility of pain if you notice the following signs in your pet:Avoidance of play or physical activitySudden and unexplained fear or anxietyGrowling, barking, or aggressive behaviorMuscle tremorsExcessive or unusual licking of a specific areaOversleeping or lethargyIf any of these symptoms appear, consult your veterinarian promptly. Our physiotherapy team uses two main approaches to help rehabilitate patients:

  1. Physical Exercises

  2. Therapeutic Equipment and Modalities

In the first approach, the veterinary physiotherapist designs and performs customized exercise programs based on the specific condition of the patient. These exercises aim to improve joint mobility, muscle function, and overall activity levels. In some cases, you will also be taught at-home exercises to support and accelerate your pet’s recovery.

In the second approach, we use advanced therapeutic devices to help reduce pain, enhance muscle tone and mass, and support healing. These include:

  • Laser therapy

  • Therapeutic ultrasound

  • Electrical stimulation (TENS)

  • Underwater treadmill therapy

We are also proud to be the only veterinary center in the region equipped to perform and interpret electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies. These tests allow us to precisely assess the location, extent, and severity of peripheral nerve injuries and track progress throughout physiotherapy treatment.
